Gang Members Found With Drugs and Homemade Weapons

Santa Maria - January 3rd, 2012

On Friday, December 30, 2011, deputies from the gang and narcotics enforcement unit in the Sheriff’s Special Investigation Bureau conducted an enforcement stop for vehicle code violations in the 2000-block of Sherwood Drive within the Tanglewood housing area in the Santa Maria Valley.

Carlos Gonzalez (DOB: 09-27-80) and David Gonzalez (DOB: 11-01-90), Arnulfo Lopez (DOB: 06-06-80), and Pedro Valdovinos (DOB: 05-16-85) were contacted inside of the vehicle.  Deputies could smell marijuana emanating from within the vehicle and could see open alcoholic beverage containers inside of the vehicle.  A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded 16.0 grams of methamphetamine packaged for sales, gang indicia, and a homemade weapon made out of a shotgun barrel. 

Carlos and David Gonzalez, Arnulfo Lopez, and Pedro Valdovinos were booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail with bail requested at $100,000 for the following violations:  possession of methamphetamine for sales (11379 H&S), possession of an illegal weapon (12020 P.C.), possession of less than an ounce of marijuana (11357(b) H&S), criminal street gang activity (186.22(a) P.C.), and committing a felony for the benefit of a criminal street gang (186.22(b)(1) P.C.).
