The Sheriff's Office Kicks Off the 'Tip A Cop' Season

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office will kick off the 2014 Tip-A-Cop season tomorrow January 29, at Chili’s located in the Camino Real Marketplace in Goleta. From 4:30 p.m.to closing, the public is invited to order dinner and be served by volunteer waiters and waitresses from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office, Santa Barbara County Probation and University of California Santa Barbara Police Department. The tips earned by the volunteer servers will go directly to benefit Santa Barbara County Special Olympics. Sheriff Bill Brown will be your Maître d’ and Lt. Butch Arnoldi will be waiting tables, as he has done the past 30 years since the Sheriff’s Office started doing Tip-A-Cop Events.
This is 13th year Chili’s has hosted a Tip-A-Cop event. Every year, the program grows in popularity with more restaurants and agencies participating and more money being raised. Last year the Tip-A-Cop functions in addition to the Law Enforcement Torch Run, raised almost one hundred thousand dollars for Special Olympics in Santa Barbara County.
“Santa Barbara County 2013 Tip-A-Cop” T-shirts and the new 2014 Special Olympics Southern California Fundraising T-shirts will be on sale for a ten dollar donation. All proceeds and tips will directly benefit the Santa Barbara County Chapter Special Olympics.
