Sheriff's Detectives Arrest Man for Narcotics and Firearms Violations

A man is in the Santa Barbara County Jail facing several narcotics and firearms charges following the service of a search warrant at his residence in Vandenberg Village.
At approximately 10:00am on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Detectives served a search warrant in the 400 block of Mars Avenue for suspected firearm and narcotic sales violations.
During the service of the search warrant, detectives contacted residents Christopher Green (DOB 5/6/82) and his live in girlfriend Katie Hamilton (DOB 1/31/88) who were both inside the residence.
During their search, Sheriff’s personnel discovered a marijuana cultivation operation which included 88 marijuana plants growing inside the garage and in the backyard, as well as several plants that were being dried in a roommate’s bedroom closet.
Detectives also discovered two handguns in the couple’s bedroom that were easily accessible to two children living inside the home. Child Welfare Services responded to the scene and assisted placing the children with a family member.
Detectives arrested Christopher Green and booked him into the Lompoc Jail for felony child endangerment (273(a) PC), cultivation and sales of marijuana (11358 H&S and 11359 H&S), felon in possession of a firearm (29800(B) PC), and felon in possession of ammunition (30305(A) PC). Green was transferred to the Santa Barbara Jail on Sunday, April 1, 2012 where he remains on $110,000 bail.
Katie Hamilton was not taken into custody however detectives informed her that a complaint would be sought with the District Attorney’s Office for felony child endangerment.
