Sheriff's Deputies Arrest Five for Home Invasion Robbery
Isla Vista - April 21st, 2012
Santa Barbara Sheriff’s deputies have arrested five men from Ventura and Los Angeles Counties for a home invasion robbery in Isla Vista Saturday afternoon.
At approximately 1:54 pm on Saturday, April 21, 2012, the five suspects drove to a residence on the 6700 Block of Trigo Road. While two of the men waited in their car, three others forced their way into the residence where they confronted at least six people inside.
Two of the suspects were armed with knives; the third suspect was armed with a realistic looking plastic Beretta handgun which he used to pistol whip two of the victims. The three suspects fled the residence after taking cash, jars of marijuana, smoking paraphernalia, cell phones and a laptop computer.
A description of the suspects and their vehicle was given to law enforcement and proved to be extremely helpful. A short time later, a Sheriff’s deputy observed the vehicle driving southbound on Highway 101 in the Montecito/Summerland area. All five suspects were taken into custody following a felony traffic stop.
Sheriff’s deputies booked all five men into the Santa Barbara County Jail on $100,000 bail for felony armed robbery (212.5(a) PC), and criminal conspiracy (182 PC). The five suspects are:
Colin Joseph Campbell (DOB 8/16/93) of Oxnard
Miguel Valencia (DOB 2/7/92) of Los Angeles
Darren Vondell Gales (DOB 3/26/94) of Camarillo
Jaylen Jujuan Stewart (DOB 3/26/93) of Oxnard
Eric Cameron Stewart (DOB 1/7/90) of Compton
The case remains under investigation. There will be no more information released this weekend.
