Santa Barbara - April 26tht, 2012
A suspect in a 1998 rape investigation in Carpinteria is now in the Santa Barbara County Jail after eluding arrest for nearly fourteen years.
In 1998 Detectives with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office arrested Ramon Gonzalez Ceja (DOB 11/16/66) for allegations of rape, burglary and domestic violence. Ceja posted bail and fled the jurisdiction shortly thereafter.
Ceja’s information was posted on the Sheriff’s website seeking the public’s help in locating him and bringing him to justice. For the last several year’s, Ceja has been featured on the Sheriff’s Most Wanted webpage (www.sbsheriff.org/mw/ceja.htmlsbsheriff.org/mw/ceja.html).
Last year, the Sheriff’s Felony Fugitive Unit began reexamining Ceja’s case in an attempt to locate him. Recently, information was obtained that lead investigators to a possible local address where Ceja was believed to be staying. Prior to further investigation, Ramon Ceja turned himself in to the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Main Jail on April 24, 2012.
The Sheriff’s Felony Fugitive Unit encourages the public to check the most wanted subjects on our webpage as well as the “Active Warrants” list regularly as they are updated with new wanted subjects routinely.
