Goleta DUI/Driver's License Cinco De Mayo Checkpoint Results

Goleta Police conducted a sobriety and driver's license checkpoint on Saturday May 5th, as part of Goleta’s commitment to public safety. The checkpoint was held between 7:00pm and 3:00am at Hollister Ave and Storke Road in the City of Goleta. This operation was one of many that have or will be conducted throughout the year in the City of Goleta. Here are the results of the checkpoint:
Vehicles Screened: 450
DUI Arrests: 2
Driving Without a Valid Driver’s License: 3
Driving with a suspended driver’s license: 1
Vehicles Impounded for 30 days: 2
Vehicles Impounded for 1 day: 2
Miscellaneous citations: 1
Driver’s Evaluated for DUI (Alcohol / Drugs) 16 (Drivers under the influence of alcohol, but not determined to be DUI)
James Ronald Pena (06-30-53) of Goleta was arrested for DUI.
Jorge Galvan (09-22-93) of Taft was arrested for DUI.
Anthony Cardenas Zermeno (12-18-58) of Goleta was arrested for a $5,000 warrant and driving on a suspended driver’s license.
The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The City of Goleta contracts with the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office for police services.
