Carpinteria Man Arrested for Stalking

Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man from Carpinteria following multiple reports of stalking in the City of Carpinteria.
During the week of May 17-20, 2012, Santa Barbara Sheriff’s deputies from the Carpinteria Station responded to (3) separate reports involving a subject harassing his ex-girlfriend (confidential victim) within the city of Carpinteria.
The subject, Evan James Connor (DOB 2/8/82) was subsequently arrested on Saturday, May 19, 2012, for violation of 11364 H&S – Possession of drug paraphernalia and 653(m) P.C. – Annoying electronic communications.
Deputies obtained an Emergency Protective Order (EPO) for the victim and booked Connor into the Santa Barbara County Jail with bail set at $2,500.00. Connor was released from jail later that day.
While on routine patrol during the evening hours on May 20, 2012, Deputies from the Carpinteria Station located Connor lurking in the neighborhood near the victim’s residence. Surveillance was established at which time Connor was observed violating the terms of the order by entering the area within 100 yards of the victim’s residence.
Connor was subsequently arrested for violation of 166.4 P.C. – Violation of a restraining order (EPO). Due to the totality of the circumstances from Connor’s actions against the victim this past week, Connor was also charged with violation of 646.9(b) P.C. – Stalking with a restraining order.
Connor was booked back into SBCJ with bail requested at $300,000.
