The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance to help locate a parolee at large who fled from Deputies on Monday night.  22-year-old Joseph Vallejo of Carpinteria is on parole for assault with a deadly weapon.

On Monday night, May 28th, at around 10:15 p.m. a Deputy spotted Vallejo leaving a residence in Carpinteria.  When the Deputy approached Vallejo, he ran off.   Deputies secured a perimeter and brought in a K9 Specialty Unit to search for the suspect but he was not located.

At around 10:30 a.m. this morning, Deputies received several reports from residents that Vallejo was seen at a home in the Carpinteria area.  Deputies again set up a perimeter and this time brought in Santa Barbara Air Support Unit Copter 1 to help search for the suspect.  Vallejo was not located and the search was eventually called off.

Vallejo was last seen this morning wearing a black sweatshirt, jeans and a black hat. He was riding a yellow mountain bike and had a black backpack.  Vallejo is about 5’ 7” tall, 125 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a large tattoo on his neck.  If you have any information on his whereabouts you are asked to call the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office at (805) 692-5743.
