Goleta - June 22nd, 2013

The victim of a train accident that occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. last night, June 21st, has been identified.  He is a 15-year-old from Goleta whose name is not being released because he is a juvenile and due to the ongoing investigation.  The teenager was hit by a freight train headed eastbound in the area of Highway 101 and Kellogg Avenue in Goleta.  Next of kin has been notified.  The Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Office is actively working the investigation and no further details are available at this time.

Goleta - June 21st, 2013

At approximately 7:15 p.m. tonight, Deputies from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an individual who had been hit by a southbound freight train in the area of Highway 101 and Kellogg Avenue in  Goleta.  Deputies, Paramedics and Santa Barbara County Fire Officials responded to the scene and found a victim who had been hit and killed by the train.  An investigation is underway to determine the identity of the victim and the circumstances surrounding what happened.  The accident is under investigation and no further information is being released at this time.
