Gang Members Arrested for Weapons Violations and Robbery
Santa Ynez - June 26th, 2014
After a three month investigation, Santa Barbara Sheriff Gang Enforcement Detectives arrested two gang members for possession of firearms, extortion, robbery, elder abuse and possession of a stolen vehicle. Two additional suspects are wanted in assocaition with the investigation.
28 year old Mike Avila (04-15-1986) of Ventura was arrested for violations of PC25850(a) - Possession of a concealed weapon, PC25400 - Possession of a loaded firearm, PC29800 - Felon in possession of a firearm, PC30305 - Felon in possession of ammunition, and PC186.22 - Gang enhancement, without incident, in the city of Ventura. He was subsequently booked into the Ventura County jail on a $1 Million bail.
On May 9, 2014, 43 year old Gilbert Garcia (01-19-1971) of Santa Paula was arrested for violations of VC10851 -Possession of a stolen vehicle, PC520 – Extortion of money or other property from another by the means of force or fear, PC368(b)(1) – Inflicts Mental Suffering upon an elder, PC368(d) – Embezzlement from an elder, PC136.1(b)(1) – Witness intimidation, PC211 – Robbery, and PC186.22(b)(1) – Criminal Street Gang Enhancement.
Gang Detectives are still attempting to locate two additional suspect associated with the case, who are believed to be in the Santa Maria area. 28 year old Mark Silvas (04-05-1986) of Santa Maria is wanted for vehicle theft and gang relates charge. He has a $135,000.00 warrant issued for his arrest.
27 year old Rosalio Estrada (02-08-1987) of Santa Maria is wanted for vehicle theft, extortion and gang related charges. He had a $150,000.00 issue d for his arrest.
