Arson Investigation

Isla Vista - November 16th, 2011

At approximately 7:45pm on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, someone threw two “Molotov cocktails” at the Isla Vista Foot Patrol located on the 6500 hundred block of Trigo Road in Isla Vista.

The first burning object appears to have hit the sidewalk near the “Operation Medicine Cabinet” drop box in the front of the IVFP. The box suffered some exterior fire damage. The fire also caused some minor damage to the stucco on the wall outside the IVFP.

The second object does not appear to have caused any fire damage, but it did shatter the windshield of a Santa Barbara Sheriff’s patrol car which was unoccupied at the time.

A witness reported seeing a lone person, dressed in all black, throw both incendiary devices, who then ran south away from the scene. No one was hurt in the incident which remains under investigation.
