Sheriff's Office Will Hold Two "Coffee with a Cop" Events
Santa Barbara - November 18th, 2013
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office will hold two “Coffee with a Cop” events next week. The first one will be held in Isla Vista on Tuesday, November 19, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Starbucks located at 888 E. Embarcadero Del Norte. This is the second “Coffee with a Cop” event for the Isla Vista community. Sheriff’s Deputies from the Isla Vista Foot Patrol will be on hand to get to know residents and answer questions and concerns.
On Thursday, November 21, a “Coffee with a Cop” event will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Starbucks located at the Camino Real Marketplace in the City of Goleta. Besides a chance to meet with Sheriff’s Deputies, residents will also have the opportunity to meet the city’s new Community Resource Deputy, Senior Deputy Dave Valadez.
Senior Deputy Valadez, who has been with the Sheriff’s Office for seven years, is a Goleta resident himself and is excited about his new assignment. “I have lived in Goleta since 1986 and I love it here. It is a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family. So, for me, it is a great honor to be a part of the great and enthusiastic group of people that make it their mission to serve the community directly and to always address and improve the quality of life here. I am looking forward to fulfilling my duties and doing my share in addressing the needs of our citizenry.”
The idea behind the “Coffee with a Cop” events is to provide residents with an informal setting to meet Sheriff’s Deputies that work in their neighborhoods and talk about their concerns. The Sheriff’s Office started holding “Coffee with a Cop” events in February.
