SBC - Search and Rescue to Help in Desert Search
Santa Barbara - December 21st, 2011
The Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue Team is sending eight members of the all-volunteer unit to the Mojave Desert area to assist in the search for two men from Santa Barbara who have been missing since Sunday.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office received an official request this morning from the law enforcement division of CalEMA for assistance in the search for Chris Rice, 29, and Dan Carbonaro, 27. Both men have not been seen since 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, when they left a motel in Randsburg in an all-terrain vehicle en route to Cuddeback Dry Lake in San Bernardino County.
In response to this request, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office activated its Search and Rescue Team and will be sending eight personnel along with two ATV Quads and two Polaris Razor vehicles specifically designed for off-road operation.
As a Type I search team, members of Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue often are requested for out-of-county mutual aid for extended searches to provide trained professional searchers anywhere in the state and in any conditions.
For further information on SBCSAR's deployment on this search, contact SAR PIO Nelson Trichler at 805-698-0752.
