LOMPOC POLICE DEPARTMENT DUI CHECKPOINT RESULTS

The Lompoc Police Department is dedicated to keeping our roadways safe through both enforcement and education. On Saturday 1-3-09 the Lompoc Police Department conducted a DUI / Drivers License checkpoint in the 600 block of East Central Avenue The purpose of the checkpoint was not only to detect and arrest drivers under the influence of alcohol / drugs, but also locate drivers whose licenses were suspended, as well as remind everyone of the dangers of impaired driving.
The following charges/arrests were made during the checkpoint:
Driving without a valid drivers license 8
Driving on a suspended license 2
Drivers evaluated for sobriety (D.U.I) 7 These people were under the legal limit
Vehicles towed for a 30-day hold 8
Vehicles towed for a 1-day hold 3
Vehicles forfeited to the City of Lompoc 0
Vehicles passing thru the checkpoint 250
Warrant Arrest 1 Federal warrant, 1 CA warrant
D.U.I. drivers 0
Other miscellaneous arrests/cite 0
Funding for this DUI checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
