LOMPOC P.D. DUI CHECKPOINT RESULTS

The Lompoc Police Department is dedicated to keeping our roadways safe through both enforcement and education. On Sunday 4-26-09 the Lompoc Police Department conducted a DUI / Drivers License checkpoint in the 1300 block of North “A” Street. The purpose of the checkpoint was not only to detect and arrest drivers under the influence of alcohol / drugs, but also locate drivers who were unlicensed, as well as remind everyone of the dangers of impaired driving.
The following charges/arrests were made during the checkpoint:
Driving without a drivers license arrest 8
Driving on a suspended license arrest 2
Drivers evaluated for sobriety (D.U.I) 13 These people were under the legal limit
DUI arrests 1
Drivers evaluated for illegal drug use 3
Vehicles towed for a 30-day hold 11
Vehicles towed for a 1-day hold 1
Vehicles passing thru the checkpoint 650
Arrest for lying to an officer 1
Funding for this DUI checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
