LOMPOC P.D. DUI CHECKPOINT RESULTS

The Lompoc Police Department is dedicated to keeping our roadways safe through both enforcement and education. On Saturday 5-23-09 the Lompoc Police Department conducted a DUI / Drivers License checkpoint in the 1100 block of East Ocean Avenue. The purpose of the checkpoint was not only to detect and arrest drivers under the influence of alcohol / drugs, but also locate drivers who were unlicensed, as well as remind everyone of the dangers of impaired driving.
The following charges/arrests were made during the checkpoint:
Driving without a drivers license arrest 15
Driving on a suspended license arrest 3
Drivers evaluated for sobriety (D.U.I) 8
Vehicles impounded/towed for a 30-day hold 12
Vehicles impounded/towed for a 1-day hold 6
Vehicles passing thru the checkpoint 1050
Warrant arrest 1
Miscellaneous citations 3
Funding for this DUI checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
