LOMPOC P.D. DUI CHECKPOINT RESULTS - Nets 15 Arrests

LOMPOC- December 9th, 2009

The Lompoc Police Department conducted a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint on Saturday December 5, 2009 as part of Lompoc’s commitment to public safety.  This checkpoint was one of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in Lompoc. The location of Saturday’s checkpoint was on Ocean Avenue (SR 246) and 12th Street as you enter the City from the Buellton area.  The goal of the DUI Checkpoint was removing impaired drivers and to bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. 

A passenger of one vehicle was arrested after it was found he had a Felony Warrant for a Probation violation.  He was on Probation for a previous D.U.I. One of the D.U.I. arrests tonight was of a person already on Probation for a previous D.U.I.

The following charges/arrests were made during the checkpoint:

Driving without a drivers license                      12         
Driving on a suspended license                            1
Drivers evaluated for D.U.I                              22 Drivers were drinking but under the limit of .08
D.U.I arrest                                                         2   (.12 BAC and .19 BAC)
Vehicles towed for a 30-day hold                     14
Vehicles towed for a 1-day hold                        3                         
Vehicles passing thru the checkpoint             1550 (Every car was checked)
Felony arrest                                                       1
Miscellaneous citation                                         3

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  Report Drunk Drivers – Call 9-1-1!
