Santa Barbara- January 14th, 2010
Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Detectives have tracked down and arrested a Ventura man suspected of an armed robbery on upper State Street.
On Wednesday evening, September 23, 2009 a man entered a gas station in the 4-thousand block of State Street in Santa Barbara County.
The suspect pulled a gun and threatened the clerk who was in the process of closing the store. The man ordered the clerk to the ground where he stole the clerk’s cell phone and wallet along with cash and cigarettes from the store.
During a several month investigation, Sheriff’s Detectives also learned that the suspect had phoned the victim’s friend and threatened to kill the victim and the victim’s family if he spoke with law enforcement about the crime.
Sheriff’s Detectives, working with Ventura Police Department, eventually identified the suspect as 20-year old Joshua Graham Packer (DOB 9/21/89) of Ventura. On Thursday afternoon, January 14, 2010 Sheriff’s Detectives served a search warrant at Packer’s home in Ventura where he was arrested without incident.
Packer is currently in the Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of Armed Robbery 211PC, and Making Criminal Threats 422 PC. His bail is set at $100,000.
