Sheriff's Detectives Arrest Former Coach on Molestation Charges
Crime Occurred at Disneyland Hotel in 1991
Lompoc- January 19th, 2010
SBSO Detectives have arrested a former youth baseball coach for molesting one of his players nearly 20-years ago.
While investigating a separate case in late 2009, Sheriff’s Detectives became aware of a possible crime that occurred in 1991 involving Andrew Greenaway (DOB 9/27/64). During the subsequent investigation Detectives learned the following:
In 1991 Greenaway was a youth baseball coach in Vandenberg Village. During that summer, Greenaway asked the parents of one of his players if the boy could join some of the other teammates for an overnight trip to Disneyland. On the day they were supposed to leave, Greenaway told the parents that all the other boys had cancelled, but that he was still willing to take the 13-year old victim on the overnight trip.
While staying at the Disneyland Hotel Greenaway allegedly molested the victim. At this time it is not known if there were other incidents involving the boy. However, Detectives are looking for any other potential victims. Since the mid-1980’s Greenaway has coached youth basketball, youth baseball, and youth football teams up until at least 2004.
If you know anything about other potential victims, please contact Sheriff’s Detectives at (805) 681-4150 or the Sheriff’s Anonymous Tip Line at (805) 681-4171.
Detectives arrested Greenaway at his Vandenberg Village home Tuesday morning, January 19, 2010 and booked him in North Santa Barbara County for molestation (288(a) PC) and kidnapping/enticing with the intent to molest (207(b) PC). His bail is set at $1,000,000.
