W.E.A.L. (Wine Staff Education on Alcohol Laws) Class
Santa Ynez Valley - January 22nd, 2008
On Tuesday, January 22nd, the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department will be teaching a class on alcohol laws specific to wine tasting room staff. The class was designed by the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department and approved by the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC). The class educates the winery staff on laws that pertain to working in a tasting room. The goal of the class is to increase the education to the winery staff on: Alcohol laws, privileges of their license, detection of fake and borrowed identification, signs of intoxication, and when to contact law enforcement.
This class will be held this evening (January 22nd, 2008) from 6:00-9:00 PM at the Buellton City Council Chambers located at 140 West Hwy. 246 in the City of Buellton.
The Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department received a grant from the Alcoholic Beverage Control in July of 2007. One of the goals of the grant is to educate and enforce alcohol laws. Since the start of the grant the sheriff’s department has educated staff at over 40 wineries in Santa Barbara County. The Santa Barbara Vintners’ Association and the Santa Maria Valley Wine Country Association have recommended their members to attend our classes.
