Sheriff's Narcotics Detectives Make Arrests in Drug Case Investigation

On January 23rd 2008, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Narcotics Detectives with the assistance of Santa Barbara Police Department conducted a search warrant at the hotel room of a suspected drug dealer in the 600 block of Cabrillo Blvd., this after a seven month long investigation.
Sheriff’s Narcotic Detectives upon service of the warrant conacted Bryn Gier (01-29-86) of Santa Barbara. Narcotics Detectives seized approximately two ounces of packaged Methamphetamine for sales, packaging materials, scales, and other paraphernalia associated with the sales of narcotics. In addition $1000.00 and a vehicle were seized. Gier was arrested for possession of Methamphetamine for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail in lieu of $30,000.00 bail.
During the service of the search warrant an additional subject arrived at the hotel room that was identified as Benjamin Macias (10-23-74) of Van Nuys. Macias was found to be in possession of approximately two ounces of packaged Methamphetamine for sale, packaging materials, scales, $800.00 and other paraphernalia associated with the sales of narcotics. Macias was also found to be in possession of a loaded firearm which he was carrying in his waistband at the time he was contacted by Narcotics Detectives. Once in custody it was then discovered that he was a convicted Felon with an active Parole status. Macias was arrested for possession of Methamphetamine for sale, being a Felon in possession of a firearm, possessing a firearm while committing a Felony and violation of parole. Macias was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail and is being held without bail due to his Parole violation.
