Body Recovered From Ocean Identified
Goleta - February 5th, 2009
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner Bureau has identified the body found in Shark’s Cove near Montecito as that of 24-year old Daniel Zembrosky.
Zembrosky disappeared on Sunday, January 25 when he and a friend went kayaking in ocean. The craft began taking on water and both men eventually attempted to swim to safety. The other 25-year old man was able to make it land where he drove to his father’s nearby home in Montecito and called 911.
Searches in the water and from the air over the next two days were not successful. On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 2:22pm on February 4, 2009 a citizen spotted a body in the ocean and called authorities. Public safety personnel recovered the body and on Thursday, February 5th, 2009 the Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau positively identified the remains through the use of fingerprints.
There are no signs of foul play. The cause of death is pending until toxicology tests are complete.
