Sheriff's Narcotics Investigators Arrest Mother on Drug Charges
Santa Barbara - February 5th, 2009
On Wednesday, February 4, 2009, after a four month long investigation, Narcotics Detectives arrested a Santa Barbara woman suspected of dealing cocaine in Santa Barbara County.
Narcotics Detectives served a search warrant at the dealer’s residence in the 600 block of Eucalyptus Ave. in Santa Barbara. During the service of the search warrant, the suspect, Maribel Gazga Delgado (DOB 01-07-1972), was contacted nearby in one of her vehicles. She was subsequently found to be in possession of over 9 ounces of powdered cocaine. An additional 4 ounces of powdered cocaine and 1 ounce of crack cocaine was located in another vehicle belonging to Delgado near her residence. Some of the cocaine was packaged in Disney and child related themes and clearly accessible to Delgado’s three children. Therefore, the children, who were contacted at the residence, were released to Child Welfare Services
The street value of the cocaine is estimated at $42,000. Over $10,000 in cash and a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe were seized from the residence pursuant to State Asset Forfeiture Laws.
Delgado was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on $200,000 bail for the following charges:
11351 H&S – Possession of cocaine for sales
11351.5 H&S – Possession of crack cocaine for sales
11352 H&S – Transportation of controlled substance
14601.1 CVC – Driving on a suspended driver’s license
273a(a) P.C. – Felony child endangerment
