Narcotics Detectives Arrest 2 in Drug Bust
Lompoc - March 19th, 2009
Two people are in jail tonight following a drug bust in Lompoc Wednesday morning.
Around 8:30am on Wednesday March 18, 2009 Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Narcotic Detectives were near the corner of Third Street and Chestnut when they attempted the traffic stop of a car driven by 44-year old Anna Maria Garcia of Lompoc.
As the car stopped, a passenger in Garcia’s vehicle, 35-year old Johnny Anthony Carreon of Colton, CA, fled from the vehicle. As Carreon fled, Garcia sped away and drove toward her residence on the 1200-block of Walnut Ave. After a short foot pursuit, Carreon was taken into custody and Garcia was followed and detained at her home.
Detectives had a warrant to search Garcia’s residence which resulted in the seizure of approximately 1 ounce of methamphetamine (street value app. $2,800) and approximately 7 grams of tar heroin (street value app. $600), as well as other contraband consistent with the sales of narcotics.
Additionally, numerous used syringes, capped and uncapped, were found throughout the residence; several of the syringes were located amongst children’s toys. Detectives summoned Child Welfare Services who interviewed a 5-year old child, living at the residence. During the interview, it was learned that the child had been stuck by a used syringe a few days prior. The child was medically cleared and taken into protective custody by CWS.
Garcia was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail and is being held on $100,000 bail. Her charges include possession of a controlled substance for sale, felony child endangerment and resisting arrest.
Carreon was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail where he is being held without bail. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance for sale, felony child endangerment, resisting arrest and being a parolee at large.
