Sheriff's Detectives Arrest Santa Barbara Man for Homicide

Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Detectives have arrested a 21-year old Santa Barbara man for homicide in the death of Robert Burke Simpson at Hendry’s Beach/Arroyo Burro Beach last Thursday.

Detectives took Rudy Gallegos (DOB 2/10/89) into custody on Sunday, April 18, 2010 as they served a search warrant at his residence in Santa Barbara. Detectives have been aware of Gallegos’s whereabouts since shortly after the crime on Thursday, evening April 15, 2010.

Gallegos is the third person taken into custody in connection to the stabbing death of the victim. On Friday, April 16, 2010, Sheriff’s detectives arrested 19-year old Brittany Danielle Weiler for being an accessory to murder. On Saturday, Sheriff’s detectives arrested a 17-year old female for being an accessory to murder.

Sheriff’s Detectives continue to look for any other suspects who may be connected to the crime. Gallegos will continue to be held in the Santa Barbara County Jail without bail. A booking photo of Gallegos will not be made available at this time. Weiler is currently also in the County Jail for Accessory to Murder on $1,000,000 (million) bail. The 17-year old girl has been taken to Juvenile Hall on the same charges.
