Sheriff's Gang Unit Arrests Eight During Sweep

Goleta- April 21st, 2009

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department’s Gang Unit with the help of several other agencies arrested six adults and two juveniles following a probation and parole compliance sweep this morning in south Santa Barbara County.

The operation, which covered 40 locations including three in the City of Santa Barbara, included the Sheriff Department’s Narcotics Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, the City of Goleta’s Community Resource Deputy, the Santa Barbara Police Department’s Gang Team, California Highway Patrol, Immigration Customs Enforcement, State Parole, Adult and Juvenile Probation and Welfare Fraud.

As a result the following adults were booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail:

Joshua Lorca (22) for Felony Probation Violation

Adam Melvin (25) and Salvador Vargas (45) for Felony Parole Violation

Veronica Robles (29) Felony Warrants (Burglary and Fraud)

Milan Juarez (20) for Misdemeanor Warrant

Eric Weeks (33) was cited and released for Misdemeanor Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance.

The two juveniles were booked into Juvenile Hall.
