Sheriff's Detectives Arrest Buellton Bank Robbery Suspect

Buellton - June 10th, 2009

June 10, 2009 Update: Steve Lawrence Morris was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail just before midnight for Felony Robbery (211 P.C.).  He’s being held on $100,000 bail. No weapon was displayed during the robbery which occurred at the bank’s drive-thru window. No weapon has been discovered.  

June 9, 2009 10:15pm Update: At approximately 8:30pm on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a suspect from this afternoon’s Rabobank bank robbery in Buellton (see details below).

Using the information from a partial license plate number, Detectives were able to hone in on a suspect, 42-year old Steven Lawrence Morris, who they arrested outside his apartment in the City of Ventura. Detectives were also able to account for all the money taken in the robbery.

Mr. Morris will be brought back to Santa Barbara County where he will be booked into the County Jail for          Robbery. There is no booking photo available at this time. There will be no more information available tonight.

Buellton—The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a bank robbery today at the Rabobank on Highway 246 in Buellton.

Just after 12:30pm a man handed a bank teller a note in which he threatened harm unless he was given money. The teller complied and the suspect left. No one was hurt in the exchange.

The suspect is described as a black male in his twenties or thirties, bald, with a shortly trimmed beard, wearing a grey t-shirt. He was seen driving away in a silver 4-door Nissan (unknown model).
