Sheriff's Detectives Arrest Goleta Man for Indecent Exposure
Goleta - June 10th, 2009
Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Detectives have arrested a man from Goleta for indecent exposure who lured his victims through a want ad on the internet.
Through their investigation Detectives discovered that Glenn Merrill (DOB 12-4-49) had posted an ad on Craiglist.org looking for a caregiver to help with household duties several days each week.
On Monday, June 1, 2009 a woman responded to the ad and agreed to come to Mr. Merrill’s residence on Monday, June 1, 2009 for a job interview. During the interview Mr. Merrill made it clear that part of the job duties included assisting him in showering. At one point Mr. Merrill undressed and asked the job applicant to help him as he began to masturbate. The victim refused and left the residence.
Through their investigation Detectives were able to link Mr. Merrill to two separate incidents on March 2, 2009 and March 9, 2009. In each case the female victims responded to a Craigslist ad for a caregiver position with Glenn Merrill as the contact person. Both victims in those reported cases stated that Merrill disrobed in front of them and asked them to help him masturbate, all the while he was masturbating in front of them. All three victims were between the ages of 23-34 years old.
Mr. Merrill was arrested and booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on Friday, June 5, 2009 on three charges of indecent exposure (314.1 P.C.) on $5,000 bail.
