Sheriff's Narcotics Detectives Arrest Suspected Drug Dealer, Again

Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Narcotics Detectives have arrested a suspected drug dealer on new charges just weeks after leading authorities on a pursuit during a separate drug bust.

On, June 18, 2010, after a seven month long investigation, Narcotics Detectives arrested Brandon GAFFKE (DOB 4/03/81) after a vehicle pursuit in which he threw out (1) ounce of crystal methamphetamine and (3) ounces of brown powder heroin from his vehicle onto the neighborhood streets. GAFFKE was also later found with pre-packaged heroin and methamphetamine on his person, which was consistent with what was found in the streets.

GAFFKE posted bail a few days later and was released from custody. A short time later, SBSO detectives received information that GAFFKE was continuing to sell narcotics within Santa Barbara County.

On July 13, 2010, Santa Barbara County Sheriff Narcotics Detectives, assisted by the Santa Barbara Police Department served an additional search warrant related to GAFFKE’s narcotics sales at his residence in the 1700 block of Robbins St. in the city of Santa Barbara. GAFFKE was found to be in possession of over ½ ounce of brown powder heroin and ¼ ounce of crystal methamphetamine packaged for sales. The street value of the drugs was estimated at $2,000.000

Additional items of evidence indicative to the sales of narcotics were also located. Approximately $1,600 in cash was seized from GAFFKE pursuant to State Asset Forfeiture Laws. Four firearms including an AK-47 assault rifle were also located and seized.

GAFFKE was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail with a pending bail hearing due to his new offenses for the following charges: 11378 H&S – Possession of methamphetamine for sales, 11351 H&S – Possession of heroin for sales, 11377 H&S – Possession of a controlled substance, 12677 H&S – Possession of fireworks, 13A-3 SBCO – Possession drug paraphernalia and 12022.1 P.C. – Commit offense while on bail.

Also arrested during the search warrant were:

Vanessa KROHN (5-2-73) for the following charges: 11378 H&S – Possession of methamphetamine for sales, 11351 H&S – Possession of heroin for sales, 11377 H&S – Possession controlled substance,  12677 H&S – Possession of fireworks, 13A-3 SBCO – Possession of drug paraphernalia and 290g P.C. – Failure to register as a sex offender.

Shannon BECKSTEAD (6-20-70) for (3) outstanding warrants and a charge of 11350(a) H&S – Possession of a controlled substance.

Glenn OLSON (8-20-69) for charges of: 11364 H&S – Possession of drug paraphernalia, 12031 P.C. – Felon in possession of firearm, 12316(b)(1) P.C. – Felon in possession of ammunition, 653f(d) P.C. – Solicit another to purchase narcotics.
