Sheriff's Deputies Arrest Woman for Suspicious Substance Incident

Goleta- August 19th, 2009

Santa Barbara County Detectives have arrested a woman for last Friday’s incident which forced the evacuation of the County’s Social Services Building on Camino del Remedio in South County.

The building was evacuated shortly after 8am on Friday, August 14, 2009 when an employee emptying an overnight drop box discovered a threatening letter in an envelope and a white powdery substance. The substance was later determined to be baby powder.

On Monday, August 17, 2009 Sheriff’s Deputies were contacted after a 34-year old female suspect returned to the same Social Services Building. Following an interview Detectives arrested April Kristine Juarez (DOB 2/22/75) for felony 11418.1 PC.

Juarez, who has no known address, was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on $50,000 bail.
