One Suspect Still Outstanding in Carpinteria Gang Attack

Sheriff’s Detectives have exhausted all leads in the search for the sixth and final suspect in a Gang related beating that occurred in Carpinteria on June 6th, 2007. The incident began at approximately 9:00 pm on Wednesday evening (6-6-07).
Witnesses at a local restaurant and bar observed a group of six Hispanic males described as “gang members” involved in a verbal altercation with four other subjects at Carpinteria and Eugenia Avenues. The altercation quickly turned violent when the six subjects attacked the four. The four victims sustained minor injuries from the attack.
A witness to the incident called 911 on his cell phone to report the fight. The witness was confronted by the suspects and attempted to run, but was overtaken. The witness was attacked by several of the gang members. He was punched and kicked, and had his cell phone stolen. He sustained internal bleeding, a broken rib, sprained knee, and numerous cuts and bruises during the attack (He was treated and released at an area hospital).
The night of the assault 19 year old Lawrence Brennen (8-31-87) of Carpinteria, 20 year old David Jimenez (7-30-86) of Carpinteria and 23 year old Daniel Jimenez (1-11-84) of Carpinteria were arrested for their involvement in the incident. They were booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of Battery with a gang enhancement and held in lieu of $250,000 bail. The next morning (June 7th, 2007), Sheriff’s Detectives arrested two additional suspects. 21 year old Juan Alcala (10-8-86) of Carpinteria and 26 year old Anthony Garibay (6-14-81) of Carpinteria were arrested a booked for Robbery, Battery with Serious Injury, Dissuading a Witness with a gang enhancement. Alcala is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail and Garabay, is being held without bail.
Sheriff’s Detectives are actively searching for one outstanding suspect; 28 year old Edward Galvez Jr. of Carpinteria. He is wanted for Robbery, Battery with Serious Injury and Dissuading a Witness. Galvez is also a parolee at large with a no bail parole warrant out for his arrest. Detectives have exhausted all leads and are asking for the publics help. Galvez has ties to both Carpinteria and Ventura. Detectives have followed leads in both Santa Barbara and Ventura County but have been unable to locate Galvez.
