Sheriff Brown Names New Department Spokesperson

Santa Barbara County - October 3rd, 2008

Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown appointed a new Spokesman for the department effective Monday, October 6, 2008. Drew Sugars will assume the position of Public Information Officer for the Sheriff's Department. Drew has been with the Sheriff's Department since March of this year and has a vast amount of experience and expertise in the media field. “The department’s previous spokesperson, Sergeant Alex Tipolt, has been transferred to the Department’s Air Support Unit,” said Sheriff Brown. “Alex has done an outstanding job as our media spokesperson for the past year. His dedication and professionalism in a difficult and important role has been greatly appreciated. Drew has some big shoes to fill, but I have no doubt that he will do us proud in his new and expanded role.”

It has been an honor to have served the public as their Public Information Officer, and I would like to also thank all of the media with whom I have worked as I move into a new assignment.
