Unique New Building Aids Public Safety
Lompoc - October 22nd, 2008
This Friday, October 24th, 2008 the media is invited to become some of the first to tour Santa Barbara County’s new combined Fire & Sheriff’s Department Station in Lompoc.
The nearly 12,600 square-foot shared facility is designed to save the county money through joint operating costs while providing modern facilities that will ultimately help support public safety.
The $5.5 million dollar building includes living quarters for five on-duty firefighters, office space, Sheriff’s squad rooms and briefing areas, apparatus bays and work-out rooms.
“The new combined station is not only a much needed replacement for the previous facilities, but it also results in a considerable savings,” says Sheriff Bill Brown. “The united efforts of two respected departments will ultimately reduce taxpayer costs while protecting the people whom this tremendous facility serves.”
Nearly 100-dignitaries have been invited to Friday’s event providing plenty of opportunity for reporters looking for interviews.
