Goleta Fatal Traffic Accident

Goleta - October 26th, 2008

A single vehicle rollover collision occurred just before 9pm on Sunday, October 26, 2008 that claimed the life of a 35-year old local man.

A 1999 GMC Yukon was travelling eastbound on Calle Real near Baker Lane in the City of Goleta when the vehicle went off the right shoulder, hit a tree and rolled onto its roof. Emergency crews extricated the trapped driver from the vehicle whom was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver is identified as 35-year old Russell Allan Sturges of south Santa Barbara County.

A 16-year old passenger was not injured, but was taken to the hospital for observation and later released.

The accident remains under investigation.
