Isla Vista Drug Bust

Isla Vista - October 31st, 2008

In the early evening of Thursday 10-30-08, detectives from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics and Gang Units served a search warrant in the 6500 block of Cordoba Road in Isla Vista and arrested two suspects for Possession for Sale of Cocaine and Ecstasy. 

The search warrant and arrests concluded a month long investigation into the sales of narcotics in the Isla Vista community.  During the service of the warrant, detectives located over 1500 "ecstasy" pills, over 3 ounces of cocaine, and approximately $7,200 dollars cash. The street value of the drugs is estimated to be more than $8,000.

Detectives arrested 23-year-old Joseph DeJesus, who they believe lives in Northern California, but visits the Isla Vista area during the weekends to sell narcotics. Detectives also arrested a local 22-year-old Isla Vista resident David Reed for Possession for Sale of Cocaine and Ecstasy.
