Isla Vista, Calif. – The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is releasing preliminary numbers related to the unsanctioned spring break party in Isla Vista known as Deltopia. The Deltopia weekend this year started on Friday, April 2, 2021 through Sunday, April 4, 2021. During this time period, there were a total of 20 citations issued and 5 arrests. A breakdown of the charges are as follows:

At approximately 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, Sheriff’s deputies assisted UCSB Police Officers assigned to the Isla Vista Foot Patrol station on a traffic stop in the area of El Colegio Road and Ocean Road. As a result of the stop for an improper lane change, the driver, 20-year-old Angel Carachure-Munoz of Santa Barbara, was arrested for driving under the influence (misdemeanor) and possession of a weapon on school grounds (misdemeanor). Munoz was booked at the Main Jail and has since been cite released.
The passenger in the vehicle, 32-year-old Ismael Torres of Lompoc, was found to have a firearm concealed in his waistband and was arrested for charges including; convicted felon carrying a loaded and concealed firearm (felony), convicted felon in possession of a firearm (felony), felon in possession of ammunition (felony), and altering a firearm marking (felony). Torres was booked at the Main Jail and has since been released on bail.
