Orcutt, Calif. – At 8:56 am, 1/3/2020, a Sheriff’s Deputy on patrol in the 4200-block of Dominion Road noticed a vehicle parked outside a residence that he knew to be vacant. The deputy approached the house and two suspects ran out the back side of the residence and into a neighboring agriculture field. The California Highway Patrol sent units to assist with a perimeter and the Santa Barbara County Air Support Unit along with a Sheriff’s K9 responded to the area to assist with the search. Within 20 minutes, 41-year-old Joseph Julian Martinez of Arroyo Grande was taken into custody.
The second suspect remains outstanding and is described as a Hispanic male, 5’7” tall, with short hair wearing a gold Chicago Bulls jacket and blue jeans. He was last seen headed southwest of residence. Martinez was booked at the Lompoc Jail for burglary (felony), resisting arrest (misdemeanor), possession of a controlled substance (misdemeanor), possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor), possession of burglary tools (misdemeanor) and prowling (misdemeanor) with a bail amount of $20,000.
