Santa Maria Couple Arrested for Child Endangerment and Drug Related Charges

At approximately 4:20 p.m. on July 1, 2019, the Santa Barbara County Public Safety Center received a call from a concerned homeowner near the intersection of Kit Way and Glines Avenue in Orcutt. The homeowner reported a suspicious vehicle in the area with two occupants. Deputies contacted a couple inside, later identified as being 23-year-old Justin Dacanay of Santa Maria and 23-year-old Alondra Oliva, also of Santa Maria. Deputies also located a six-month-old baby in the car. After further investigation, both subjects were arrested. Child Welfare Services assisted and took custody of the baby for a Drug Endangered Child (DEC) investigation and follow-up medical care at the hospital.

Dacanay was arrested for 273a(a) PC – Child Endangerment, 11550(a) H&S – Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, 11364(a) H&S – Drug Paraphernalia, and 11350(a) H&S – Possession of Heroin with bail set at $100,000.

Oliva was arrested for 273a(a) PC – Child Endangerment, 11550(a) H&S – Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, 11364(a) H&S – Drug Paraphernalia, and 148(a) P.C. – Resisting or Delaying a Peace Officer with bail set at $100,000.


Dacanay and Oliva were transported and booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.
