Santa Barbara, Calif. – This morning, detectives served a search warrant in the 200-block of Helena, resulting in the arrest of 26-year-old Jose Alvarez-Fuentes of Goleta for possession of pornographic material of a child (felony). The investigation began on May 5, 2020, when detectives received a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program that child pornography had been uploaded by a user on social media. Through the investigation, the phone number and IP address associated with the social media account was linked to Jose Alvarez-Fuentes. Detectives authored a search warrant for Alvarez-Fuentes’ residence and phone, which was served this morning. When he was contacted, Alvarez-Fuentes was found in possession of child pornography. Alvarez-Fuentes was booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail and will be cite released without bail in accordance with Emergency Rule 4. This investigation is ongoing.
