Two Juveniles Arrested Following Strong Arm Robbery Attempt

At approximately 1:10 p.m. today, Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to Central Stations responded to the 400 block of Second Street in the City of Solvang to investigate a report of an attempted “strong arm” robbery.

The victim, a tourist visiting Solvang, reported that a male suspect attempted to forcibly take her purse. The victim was able to fend off the suspect and was not injured during the attack. The suspect ran to a waiting vehicle driven by another male suspect.  The two fled the scene. Deputies quickly located the suspect vehicle in the 200 block Valhalla Dr. where the driver was detained. A witness reported seeing the second suspect fleeing from the vehicle and he was located shortly thereafter on Alisal Mesa Road.

The suspects were identified as being two juveniles from the Santa Ynez Valley.  They were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a robbery and attempted robbery. One of the suspects was illegally in possession of prescription drugs. The two suspects were booked at Santa Barbara County Juvenile Hall.
