Welcome to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department website where you can learn more about your world-class Sheriff’s Department.  Every day more than 700 regular employees and more than 200 volunteers provide essential public safety services in a wide variety of disciplines including front line law enforcement, custody, protection in our courts, coroner, aviation, investigations, and administrative support. 

The dedicated men and women who perform these roles are members of one dedicated team that has been --as our motto says- “Keeping the Peace Since 1850.”
