We Are Better, When We Work Together

Community outreach is a top priority of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office. Reducing crime, making neighborhoods safer, and in general improving the quality of life for all of our citizens can only be accomplished through partnerships and team efforts.
Working partnerships between law enforcement and community members are the bedrock of efficient service, trust, and improving our social quality of life. Robert Peel, one of the founding fathers of modern law enforcement whose words are traced back to as far back as 1829, summed it up best when he said:
The police at all times should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police; the police are the only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the intent of the community welfare.
We are better when we work together. We encourage you to join us in our efforts to keep our communities safe. Sign up for the Citizen’s Academy, Join Neighborhood Watch and Nextdoor, Sign up for our Nixle Alerts, Come to our Coffee with a Cop events, Follow us on Social Media, Watch the Sheriff’s Roundup and always remember, “If you see something, say something,” We are all in this together and we desire to have a positive and close relationship with the people we are here to protect and serve. We take this mission of public safety seriously and we want to partner with you.
Thank you Santa Barbara County for supporting your Sheriff’s Office. We are grateful for the great relationship we have always had with our communities. Your trust and respect is greatly appreciated by all of us here at SBSO!

Behind every call, every response, and every safe outcome… there’s a dispatcher making it happen.
Today, our deputies took a moment to say thank you to the voices on the other end of the line—our lifeline. 💛📞

One arrest so far at Deltopia, and it’s just about noon as Soltopia events are getting underway. This is a noticeably different start compared to past years. Deputies are out and about, and we’re hoping this sets the tone for a safe and fun weekend. Make good decisions, look out for each other, and help us keep things moving in the right direction.

Out in Cuyama, things look a little different. 🌄
Our Cuyama substation is staffed by resident deputies — meaning they don’t just patrol this community, they live here. They know the backroads, the ranches, the families, and the history.
In a rural area where backup can be miles away, relationships matter. And in Cuyama, those relationships run deep. 🤝
Small station. Big commitment.
