Carpinteria, Calif. – Following a months-long investigation into two large-scale burglaries targeting the same Carpinteria-area cannabis cultivation site, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives have identified 19 suspects (17 adults and 2 juveniles) believed to be responsible. Detectives obtained felony arrest warrants for each adult involved. The investigations stem from burglaries that occurred on January 17, 2026, and February 4, 2026, at a cannabis farm in the 4000-block of Foothill Road where approximately 2,000 pounds of cannabis valued at over $500,000 was taken.

On Monday July 27, 2026, Santa Barbara County warrants with $20,000 bail were issued for each of the adult suspects for the following charges:

• PC 459 – Burglary
• PC 487(a) – Grand Theft
• PC 182 – Conspiracy

The investigation began after deputies responded to the January burglary in which suspects fled before law enforcement arrived. Although the suspects wore masks during the burglary, through extensive follow-up investigation, detectives identified 19 suspects who were involved (one of the suspects was murdered on February 16, 2026).

The February burglary resulted in a coordinated law enforcement response after suspects fled in multiple vehicles, leading to two separate traffic collisions in Carpinteria. Three suspects were arrested at the time, including Abraham Bustos, along with two male juveniles.

As a result of their investigation, detectives have now identified the following suspects:

The two juvenile suspects have been referred to the Santa Barbara County Juvenile Court.

“These cases demonstrate the commitment of our detectives to identifying every suspect involved in organized property crimes, no matter how long the investigation takes,” said Sheriff Bill Brown. “We will continue to aggressively investigate those who target legal cannabis and other businesses in Santa Barbara County, and we will work with our law enforcement partners to locate and apprehend these suspects. Let this be a lesson for out-of-town criminals who seek to prey upon Santa Barbara County victims and businesses.”
