On Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at approximately 9:10 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded with County Fire and American Medical Response to the 200-block of Burton Mesa Blvd. in Lompoc for a report of a domestic disturbance with a victim who was possibly injured. When deputies arrived, they contacted the adult male victim outside of the residence. The victim had a serious laceration to his upper torso and was immediately transported to an area hospital.
Deputies contacted the suspect, 26-year-old Edgar Ayala, outside the residence. Ayala was detained and later arrested for the injuries inflicted on the victim. Detectives responded to the scene, and a follow-up investigation is underway. The victim, whose identity is being withheld, is expected to survive. Ayala was booked at the Sheriff’s Main Jail for attempted murder (felony), and domestic violence (felony). He is being held on$1,000,000 bail.
