Goleta, Calif. – Deputies have safely arrested a suspect for an assault with a deadly weapon after an hours-long standoff. At approximately 7:13 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the area of Encina Meadows for a stabbing that had just occurred. When deputies arrived, they found an adult male victim near a bus stop with severe lacerations. The victim was transported to an area hospital for care with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies quickly located the suspect inside a residence at Encina Royale and identified her as 31-year-old Kebrina Alvarez. Deputies learned that the suspect and the victim are known to each other, and this was not a random attack. While deputies attempted to have the suspect exit the residence, additional resources responded to the scene including the Special Enforcement Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, and K9 Units. Deputies authored a warrant for the suspect and entered the residence at approximately 10:45 a.m., where the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was transported to an area hospital for medical clearance and will be booked at the jail for assault with a deadly weapon later today.
