Carpinteria, Calif. – Sheriff’s deputies have arrested three suspects in connection with a burglary at a cannabis farm. On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at approximately 2:57 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 4500-block of Foothill Road for a reported burglary in progress.
Within minutes, deputies were advised that the suspects had fled the area in several vehicles. Shortly thereafter, dispatch received a report of a traffic collision at Foothill Road and Santa Monica. Deputies arrived and found a blue BMW SUV overturned on its roof. Three suspects were attempting to flee from the vehicle.
Deputies removed the suspects from the vehicle and detained two without incident. A third suspect became combative and was taken into custody using a Taser. A handgun was later recovered from inside the vehicle. All three suspects were evaluated by medical personnel at the scene, and no significant injuries were reported.
Additional units from the Santa Barbara Police Department, California Highway Patrol, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, and Santa Barbara County Air Support responded to assist. Minutes later, deputies received a second report of a traffic collision near Foothill Road and Cravens. At that location, deputies found a white and black Infiniti that had been abandoned. Investigators received information indicating the occupants may have entered a third vehicle that fled the area.
As a precaution, residents along Foothill Road from Santa Monica to Linden Avenue, and south to U.S. Highway 101, were asked to remain inside their homes and report any suspicious activity. Deputies conducted an extensive search of the area for several hours but did not locate additional suspects.
The identities of the arrested suspects are not being released at this time. This investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be shared as it becomes available.
